Cobo Portal updates - User roles and permissions
December 26, 2024
Dear Cobo users,
To further enhance your user experience, Cobo Portal has optimized the Cobo Portal user roles based on the existing permission management system, offering you a safer and more flexible permission management experience.
After in-depth customer research and meticulous design, the new user roles and permissions will officially go live on January 2, 2025. This upgrade not only maintains the high security of existing user roles and permissions but also optimizes user role management to better meet the diverse needs of your business operations.
1. User roles and permission optimizations:
Admin user role enhancement
Permissions upgrade: The Admin user role holds the highest account permissions, including the newly added permissions for Transaction Management and Developer Console management.
Use case: The Admin role can be assigned to the organization's actual controller, responsible for all critical operations within the organization. All critical operations require Admin's review.
New Manager user role
User role positioning: The Manager user role is designed to assist the Admin in managing the team and holds permissions for daily operations.
Permission details: The Manager has permissions other than editing Governance Policies or initiating withdrawals. The Manager can also perform actions such as freezing teams, adding/deleting/modifying members, and setting APIs. Actions initiated by the Manager require Admin's review.
Use case: Middle-level managers can be assigned the Manager role to efficiently manage daily team operations.
Adjustments to other user roles
Optimization scope: Minor adjustments have also been made to other user roles (such as Approver, Spender, etc.). Please refer to the documentation for specific details on these adjustments.
2. Adjustments and optimizations for WaaS 2.0 API:
WaaS 2.0 API permission updates
The Operator user role has new permissions to Unlock UTXO Interface and List Token Balances by Wallet.
The Viewer, Spender, and Operator user roles now have access to perform Transaction Query.
Changes to WaaS 2.0 API user role names
The names of API-related user roles will be updated to Spender, Operator, Staker, and Viewer, replacing the original names (API_Spender, API_Operator, API_Staker, API_Viewer).
Reminder: Please update your members' user roles according to these changes and your business needs. You can find detailed explanations and operation guides in our documentation center:Introduction to user roles and permissions. Assign user roles to members.
